Intro to Meditation

Intro to Meditation
A free, ongoing class with Joel Kreisberg — hosted at The Spark

1st and 3rd Thursdays, 4:00–5:00 pm ET

Whether you're brand new to meditation or building a steadier practice, this welcoming course covers everything you need to begin. Guided step by step by experienced instructor Joel Kreisberg, you'll learn the fundamentals in a supportive group setting. No prior experience required — just curiosity and a willingness to show up.

What You'll Learn
The practical, philosophical, and scientific foundations of meditation: comfortable, sustainable posture; breathing techniques to ground your attention and calm the nervous system; objects for focusing attention like breath, body sensations, and sound; support structures to keep your practice accountable and ongoing; and the philosophy and science behind how meditation affects the brain and body.

What It's Like
Each session offers clear, hands-on instruction demonstrated live by Joel — you'll learn by practicing together, not by lecture. Every class includes time to arrive and settle, a guided meditation, and a Q&A or discussion. Sharing your experiences is warmly encouraged; group connection deepens both motivation and learning.

About the Teacher
Joel Kreisberg has taught the healing arts and meditation for over 30 years and serves as Spiritual Director of the Shining Bright Lotus Meditation Society.

Once you sign up, you do not need to sign up again, and are welcome to attend all sessions.
