Join us at The Spark of Hudson for our monthly poetry slam, an open, welcoming space for writers and non-writers alike to come together, share their work, and find community in the people around them. This slam, facilitated by Mary Garcia, is for anyone carrying something heavy, celebrating something small, or just looking for a place where they belong.
Lightning Talks
A group of people, each with 5 minutes and a topic they love, stand up and share it with the room. The topics are totally unpredictable. You never know what you're going to get, and that's the whole point.

We'll draw on research in developmental neuroscience and parent-teen communication patterns to understand why teens disengage, and what changes when adults do something different
Intro To Cyanotype with Chris Losee
In this two-hour hands-on workshop, we’ll start by briefly covering the history of cyanotypes, the chemistry involved in making prints, and some of the ways contemporary artists are using this alternative photographic process. Then we’ll dive into making our own blue-toned prints!

Dante al Dente: A Poetry and Pasta Making Workshop
Join us at The Spark, on a hot, muggy and sticky July night for refreshing Pelligrino and Sicilian Vino Bianco as we make hand-made pasta from scratch (and flour!). We will then indulge in an authentic Sicilian dinner, prepared by Salvo for your delectation featuring traditional ‘Cavatelli al Ciliegino e basilico’ (homemade cherry tomato sauce).
